Bible Study Tips

October 14, 2009 - Leave a Response

Okay, since we are talking about how to be authentic Christians, we have to be reading God’s word in a real way.  Here are a few ideas to help you with your Bible reading.

Got these from Andy Stanley

  1. Schedule a time everyday that you will be in God’s word.  I know that it kind of sounds nonspiritual to “schedule” time with God, but chances are if you don’t have a specific time daily that you spend with God you are more than likely not going to spend time with Him.
  2. Find a place.  Have a specific place that you go to every time.  The way Andy put it was, by having that specific place, you know that when you get there it is time to get down to business in God’s word.
  3. Have a plan.  Know what you are going to read.  If you are like me you may need help in knowing what to read, so find a plan that works for you.  Most of your Bibles probably have some type of reading plan in them.  Use those if they work for you.  www.bibleplan.org or www.esv.org/biblereadingplan Both of these sites have plans that you can use.

Get in the habit of reading your Bible with a pen and paper.  As you read you may want to highlight or circle passages that really hit you, or you may want to write things down as you read, thats what the paper is for.  You may also want to journal.  After your time in the word you can journal your thoughts.

These are just some general ideas, but if we are going to be real, we have to be in God’s word.

God’s Word Verses

October 14, 2009 - Leave a Response

Hey Everyone.  Here are seven verses that I want you to meditate on throughout this week.  There is one verse for everyday.

If my people who are called by my name will humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.  2 Chronicles 7:11

In the begining was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. John 1:1

I appeal to you therefore, borther, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.  Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.  Romans 12:1-2

You will recieve power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.  Acts 1:8

Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.  Matthew 10:39

And I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?”  Then I said, “Here am I!  Send me.”  Isaiah 6:8

Let no one despise you for your youth, but set the believers as example in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, in purity.  1 Timothy 4:12

Verse for the Week

October 13, 2009 - Leave a Response

Ok everyone, here is our verse for the week.  Very powerful and to the point.

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.  John 1:1

Simply stated before anything else there was the perfect unity of the Trinity and the Word.  And that word was God as the scripture states.  It simply goes back to God, in all things.
